400-600 dollar console vs. 100$ one is a no brainer for people who don't have a HDTV. And the overwhelming majority doesn't have one so there you go.
I've known the hardest of hardcore Sony fans (games), and their all waiting for price drop. They don't care about BR, a lot don't even know what it is.

I still love the online, I just got the game for chirstmas. Campaign is very annoying and generally unsatisfying. It was just built completely wrong.

well that's it than really, if you want a BR drive and like its exclusives than get a PS3.
the problem is with most people is that they've never heard of a BR player, or cell, or rsx. All they see is the price. Hence it's sudden drop in demand.
